Man Killed in Big Rig Collision

Big Rig Collision

Los Angeles, CA -- A man has died in a collision with a big rig early Tuesday morning.

The crash happened on the 405 Freeway around 4:00 a.m. A big rig was traveling at unsafe speeds for the road conditions.

Craig Zackery, 49, did not notice the stopped traffic ahead, causing him to rear-end the 2014 Dodge Journey in front of him.

The driver of the Dodge died from his injuries on the scene. Police have not released the identity of the driver pending the notification of the next of kin. The passenger in the Dodge, Chevette Pugh, 32, suffered severe injuries. EMTs transported her to a nearby hospital.

Police issued a SigAlert for many lane closures on the 405 Freeway. The alert that had closed three lanes lifted around 11 am. 

Investigators have ruled out drugs and alcohol as causes of the accident. Police have not said if there was an arrest.
