2 Killed in Separate Crashes in Rainy Conditions

SUN VALLEY, CA (APRIL 29, 2019)- Rainy conditions may have contributed to two fatalities in accidents in Pomona and Sun Valley early in the morning on April 29, 2019.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the first accident occurred just after 3:40 a.m. in the eastbound lane when a car hit a big rig on the off-ramp. In that crash, both drivers reportedly got out of their vehicles.

A second crash was reported at 4:14 a.m. on the northbound 5 Freeway and also involved a car and a big rig. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A third crash occurred just minutes later on the eastbound 10 Freeway, also between a small car and a big rig. CHP said the smaller car rear-ended the big rig at a high rate of speed. One person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Several lanes of traffic were closed for several hours following each accident.
