3 People Dead After Single-Car Crash in Amador County

Amador County, CA (March 3, 2023) — According to California Highway Patrol, three people were killed in a single-car crash Thursday afternoon. The accident happened at around 1:54 PM on Irish Hill Road between Rancho Murieta and Plymouth.

CHP states that a 40-year-old driver in a Toyota Echo from Ione was speeding down the road with two minor passengers, a 5-year-old and a 7-year-old. At some point, the driver lost control of the Toyota and crashed into a tree on the side of the road, killing the driver and both of the children.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, but it is still under investigation. So far, CHP reports that both children were unrestrained at the time of the crash and that speeding was the most likely cause.
