Five Car Pileup Leaves One Dead, Injures Six Others
Lancaster (February 8, 2019) -Just north of Lancaster, a five-car collision left one dead and six injured late Thursday afternoon. The crash happened around 4:50 pm, about one mile north of Lancaster, at State Route 138 (also known as Avenue D) and 60th Street West.
Los Angeles County Fire Department responders were first on the scene. Officials pronounced one dead as a result of the multi-car accident, and six more sustained injuries.
Five people reported moderate injuries and one reported minor injuries.
Emergency services transported all six people with injuries to the hospital. Two required an airlift and the others went by ambulance.
California Highway Patrol closed all lanes of Route 138 for several hours following the crash to investigate. The investigation is ongoing. Authorities will release more information about what may have caused the crash at a later time.
