Driver in Crash that Killed Pedestrian Arrested on DUI and Manslaughter Charges

Jacob Gralitzer, 27, Melrose

MELROSE (August 1, 2019) - A pedestrian involved in a two-car collision was killed late Thursday, August 1st. Officers responded to a scene around 10:30 p.m.

According to official reports, Jacob Gralitzer, 27, caused the crash after colliding with another vehicle turning left at the intersection onto Martel Avenue.

Gralitzer then veered onto the sidewalk where he struck a traffic light and then the pedestrian, whose identity has no been released.

The pedestrian was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital where he died from a serious head injury suffered in the accident.

Gralitzer was arrested on manslaughter and DUI charges. He was also reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed when the accident occurred.
