Driver Arrested after Pedestrian Hit and Killed- Torrance

TORRANCE - On Saturday morning, March 16, a man died after he was hit by a vehicle when attempting to cross the street.

Police responded to a call around 6:10 a.m. about a traffic accident near Crenshaw Blvd. and Maricopa St. Officers found a seriously injured pedestrian.

A Nissan sedan hit the injured man when he was attempting to cross Crenshaw Blvd.  

The driver was proceeding through a green light, and the man was not within the crosswalk when he was hit. Responders from the Torrance Fire department treated the man on the scene.  He ultimately died as a result of the serious injuries sustained in the accident.

Police identified the driver as Erica Deleon, 30, of Los Angeles. She was arrested on suspicion of driving without a license and driving under the influence. Officers also found what they suspect to be narcotics.

The investigation closed Southbound Crenshaw between Del Amo Blvd. and Torrance Blvd. and eastbound Maricopa St. at Crenshaw Blvd. for some time following the accident.
