Cyclist Injured in Morning Crash with Vehicle

Tahoe City, CA. (June 18, 2019)— A bicyclist was left with major injuries after a crash involving a bicycle and a vehicle. California Highway Patrol is investigating the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, June 18th, early around 7:40 a.m on Route 28.

Investigators reported that the 16-year-old driver of the vehicle stated that he did not see the cyclist because the sun was in his eyes. Although the CHP initially reported the accident as fatal to the cyclist, the patrol later said it could not confirm that the cyclist had been killed.

Surrounding roads were closed for a few hours following the incident, which remains under investigation.
