Fatal Toll Road Crash

Anaheim, CA — A collision on a remote section of Orange County toll road claimed the life of a 7-year-old Fontana boy Sunday afternoon August 25th, according to officials.

The crash between a car and a van occurred on the Eastern Transportation Corridor (241) toll road near Windy Ridge Road, the California Highway Patrol said Sunday.

"Five people were injured, one fatally," said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Jon Muir.

The boy, later identified as Vershad Raggins of Fontana, was airlifted and flown to Orange County Global Medical Center in critical condition.

Raggins was pronounced dead at the hospital, the Coroner's office said.

The highway was closed for four hours for the accident investigation.
