Woman Crashes into Busy Pizzeria at Lunchtime, BAC 4 Times Above Legal Limit

Los Angeles County (March 1, 2019) - Police arrested a 40-year-old Sylmar woman on Friday after they determined her blood alcohol content was nearly four times the legal limit.

The woman crashed a car into the front of a busy Newhall pizzeria, filled with a lunch-time crowd.

The accident happened around 12:30 pm at Ameci Pizza & Pasta a restaurant located on Lyons Ave. just west of Wiley Canyon Road.

Apparently, the woman lost control of the vehicle and hit the plate glass windows in the front of the business.

The vehicle then traveled some distance into the building and struck a senior citizen who was eating lunch in the restaurant. The 69-year-old Stevenson Ranch man was sent to the hospital and treated for moderate injuries.

Surprisingly there were no other serious injuries.

General Manager Joseph Maier said the sound of the breaking windows and the impact of the car hitting the front of the building were startling. He remarked it was a very scary situation, especially during the busy lunch rush.

The woman is being held on charges of felony DUI with bodily harm.
