Man Killed in Crash Near St. Helena
Napa Valley, CA — The Napa Valley Coroners Office identified a man who died in his car just outside the Helena city limits.
The victim is Cameron Thompson, a 26-year-old man from Los Angeles. He was residing in Calistoga at the time of his death.
Thompson failed to show up to work Saturday evening and his coworkers grew worried. They reported him missing to the Napa Valley Sherrif’s Department. One of Thompson’s coworkers found the vehicle around 9 a.m. Monday morning and called the police.
CHP investigators believe that the crash happened around 2:40 a.m. Saturday. The car was not readily visible from the road. CHP believes that Thompson unexpectedly swerved left, colliding with the guardrails on the southbound side of the road. The car went airborne and struck a tree.
CHP did not receive any calls for aid or service that morning. When the vehicle was found, CHP closed the Silverado trail for a few hours and reopened the trail at 12:11 p.m.
