Fresno Crash Leaves One Man Dead and Two Children Injured, Another Arrested for DUI
Fresno (February 18, 2019) - The Fresno Police Department is continuing to investigate a three-car accident that happened around 7 pm on Sunday night.
One man was killed, two children were hospitalized, and the man suspected of causing the accident is in police custody for driving under the influence.
Following several 911 calls, officers and paramedics responded to Chestnut Ave., just south of Church Ave. in southeast Fresno.
Responders found 3 vehicles on the scene. One vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee had overturned. The man suspected of driving under the influence was in the second vehicle, a Toyota sedan, and a 10-year-old girl and her grandparents were in the 3rd car.
The only reported injuries were to the occupants of the Jeep.
A passenger in the Jeep, Hector Sandoval, a 19-year-old Los Angeles man, died at the scene. EMS transported the two children, also passengers in the Jeep, to Community Regional Medical Center.
They are both in stable and good condition.
Investigators aren’t completely sure how the accident happened, but are working to find the exact cause. Police arrested the driver of the Toyota for suspected DUI.
