Long Beach, CA (July 22, 2019) — A fatal crash on the 710 Freeway killed one man early in the morning Sunday, July 21.

Emergency crews responded to the scene near the transition road from the 710 south to the 91 Freeway easy around 5:00 a.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Enrique Boris Alvarado Mira, 23, was driving a Nissan Altima along the transition road.

He then left the roadway and traveled over the retaining wall, falling approximately 60 feet before sliding upside-down into the tunnel where the 710 passes under the 91.

Mira was pronounced dead at the scene. A combination of drugs and alcohol is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash.
