Driver Crashes into a Building, Injures Two in Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA (March 6, 2023) — Two people were injured Sunday night after a vehicle lost control and crashed into a commercial building. The accident occurred around 5:30 PM near the intersection of East Arrow Highway and Calmview Street in Irwindale.

According to first responders from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, the force of the crash caused the car’s engine to shoot inside the building. A pickup truck in the parking lot was also side swiped during the accident. Two occupants in the business struck by the vehicle were injured as a result. Both were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The Irwindale Police Department believes that the crash was caused by speeding, but the exact events leading up to the accident are still being investigated. While the crash temporarily closed the eastbound lanes of Arrow Highway, they have since reopened. Inspectors have also tagged the structure as being unsafe to enter.

Knowing Your Rights After Being Injured by a Negligent Driver

We at Starpoint Law wish the two victims of this preventable accident a speedy recovery. Unfortunately, crashes like this are all too common in Los Angeles. It is especially traumatizing when you are not expecting it. When a driver crashes into a building due to speeding, it has a chance of ending or forever changing the lives of those caught in the vehicle’s path. If this happens to you or someone you love, know that you don’t have to pursue justice alone.

Types of Damages You May Claim

Whether you are injured by a driver while walking on the sidewalk, working in a roadside commercial building, or relaxing at home, the negligent driver should be held accountable. In these situations, it is possible to pursue a variety of damages related to the crash, including both economic and non-economic losses. This includes things like:

  • Medical treatment costs,
  • Lost wages during recovery,
  • Reduced earning capacity,
  • Property damage,
  • Mental anguish,
  • Loss of enjoyment, and
  • Pain and suffering.

When injuries are serious, the costs often go far beyond the initial recovery. For some, injuries caused by negligent drivers cause lifelong disability and pain. In fact, many injuries prevent victims from participating in their usual activities. For this reason, it’s essential that you speak to an attorney if you receive moderate to severe injuries in a crash.
