Auto Shop Employee Killed by High-Speed Vehicle While Working

Beaumont, CA (July 19, 2019 ) — A crash involving a motor home killed one person on the morning of Friday, July 19.

Emergency crews responded to the scene around 10:30 a.m. at the intersection of Beaumont Avenue and 5th Street.

According to the police, a Subaru SUV was exiting the westbound I-10 freeway at high speeds when it ended up traveling through the parking lot of an auto repair shop.

There, it struck one of the shop’s employees.

Darren Kritzberger, 50, was working behind a motor home when he was struck by the Subaru, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Reports say the driver of the Subaru, who was treated for only minor injuries, claims she could not brake because her cruise control was stuck.

An official cause of the crash has not been released.
