33-Year-Old Amber Lawson Identified as Pedestrian Killed in Accident Along US 65

Branson, CA - Amber Lawson, 33, was fatally killed in a pedestrian accident last year on Friday, August 24, 2018.

Branson police reported that Lawson was crossing U.S. 65 near Missouri 48 when she was struck by a vehicle traveling in the northbound lane.

The vehicle involved, an older model Chevy truck driven by Thomas Cooper, was driving in the passing lane along the highway when it struck Lawson around 8:30 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle was not impaired and police were unsure why Lawson might be crossing the road at that point.

“Where she crossed at is not a common place to cross 65,” said Sgt. Stanley Kauffman. “Right there is a divided highway, it’s four lanes, and there’s no access for pedestrians besides walking from the roadway either from 76 or 248.”
